Benchmark indices were in consolidation mode, with the Nifty hovering around 9650-mark.
The Sensex was down 40.95 points at 31230.33, while the Nifty was down 9.75 points at 9654.15. The market breadth was narrow as 1,237 shares advanced against a decline of 1,203 shares, while 154 shares were unchanged.
Dr Reddy’s Labs and Sun Pharma gained the most, while TCS and GAIL lost the most.
